Viennese Journal 14.0: Our Magical Adventure in London

WARNING: This material may not be suitable for people over the age of 8, and may cause disorientation in people who are losing their imagination or otherwise do not believe in fairies.

Dear Liam:
I hope you are having fun with Grandma while we are away. I miss tossing you into bed and telling you stories at night. I had a big adventure in London and wanted to tell you about it …

I found Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens and he helped me learn to fly …

But that takes me ahead in the story, and so I must begin at the beginning.  After breakfast we went to King’s Cross station where they have trains coming and going all of the time. We found the Platform 9 ¾ where Harry Potter and his friends go to Hogwarts, and we ran right through the wall.

This took us into the magical part of London where we encountered all kinds of creatures, fairies and places. First we came upon the Sphinx. He was part lion, part eagle, and bluegrass banjo player with a long beard. He told us to go in search for the “Tree of Life” as it would hold the answer to very important questions. He said to take the subway, which is a train far beneath the earth that travels as fast as cars.

To get to the subway we had to walk down the Evil Tunnel of 175 steps. The Evil Tunnel went around and around as it spiraled downward. As you walk people came quickly around the corner, and you had to bounce from side to side to avoid hitting them - like that game on the Ipad... It was a very tiring and evil tunnel.

Once we escaped the evil Tunnel of 175 steps we found a giant spider wrapping a whole building in its web. The giant spider was a hundred years old, and was as big as a bus. She had captured a seventeen year old Egyptian Queen named Cleopatra and her cat named Hip-Hop. In addition to being Queen of Egypt, Cleopatra was a singer with a best hit called “we are never getting back together.”  Her cat, Hip-Hop, wrote the story that was later made into the Disney classic, the Aristocats. And, she also invented ear and nose piercings.

We tried to save them, but the giant spider wrapped them in its web and turned them into mummies. Then the giant spider then carried them off to the British Museum where they were locked in glass cases for viewing by the general public.

We met a former Prime Minister named Churchill who warned us of the Evil Knight who had beheaded three lovely ladies from Greece, and a horse.  The Evil Knight was riding through London when one of the three Greek ladies commented on his armor. She said it could use some polish. In his anger he lopped off their heads. He accidentally wacked his own horse’s head off. Lord Nelson came to try to rescue the ladies and the horse, but he was taken prisoner and put on a high tower.  Churchill asked us to get the horse to the hospital, defeat the Evil Knight and save Lord Nelson.

In order to save Lord Nelson from the height of the high tower, I had to learn to fly so we went in search of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. He was playing his pipe when we came. He told me to think of a happy thought, so I thought about you dancing. And I leapt into the air and touched my toes.

We headed toward downtown London past the big clock called Big Ben. It was the beautiful big clock that Peter Pan loves to fly around. So we took a couple of laps around it.

We went in search of the Knight in armor and were suddenly attacked. So I jumped into a telephone booth, put on my superman shirt, and defeated him. Then I flew to the top of the Tower and saved Lord Nelson.

For his punishment, the Knight was placed in a glass display at the Globe theater were thousands of people look at him every week and think he is just a costume.

Lord Nelson was very grateful, and he granted us three wishes. I asked for the magical crystal skull which was supposed to have great power. Then I asked for some cucumber sandwiches and tea, which was probably a waste of a wish because we had just eaten some with your Mom. (But they were so good, I wanted some more).  Finally, I asked directions to the tree of life. ( I probably should have asked for more wishes)

He told us we would find the Tree of Life in the basement of the British Museum, along with every other world artifact of importance stolen by the British in the last two hundred years.
We descended into the basement of the British museum and we were met by a strange looking creature with green leaves named Maridhiano. He called over a strange looking bird named Wesson who walked along with us to the Tree of Life.  The bird looked like he had gun parts sticking out of him.

As we walked, Maridhiano told us the story of the Tree of Life. Many years ago a country was ravaged by a terrible war between green people and the blue people. The anger of the people was fueled from the outside by people of every color, who poured guns into the country. Even small children were given guns to kill people. The green and blue people finally found a way to come to peace after more than twenty years of killing.  By this time guns were everywhere. What looked like a tool of power, now appeared to them a curse of death. They decided to take apart their guns into small pieces, and rebuild them into a giant tree. This became the tree of life. We asked Maridhiano about the bird walking along with us. He too is made out of guns.
The tree of life was beautiful to behold, and made us believe that we beat our tools of destruction into symbols of life and healing.
We found the Tree of Life has deep magical powers to inspire people to give up their weapons, and transform them into tools of hope.
I hope you enjoyed this story Liam. We had other great adventures involving tree fairies. As a flower fairy, you will understand how hard these tree fairies work. But that will be for a later time.
